Heavy rain and gusting winds are expected to develop tonight and continue in the Peace Country Wednesday morning.
A special weather statement was issued by Environment Canada and Meteorologist Josh Classen says the forecasted 75 mm for some areas, should miss us.
“It looks like the heaviest of the rain, 50 to maybe 75/80 mm is going to be from just south of Edmonton, north towards Athabasca and Boyle areas – that’s where most of the rain is going to be. I think in Grande Prairie, your greatest threat for getting maybe a bit more than 20 mm is if there was a thunderstorm that bubbled up, doesn’t look very likely like that’s is going to happen tonight, I think it’s more rain than thunderstorms.”
Grande Prairie and areas to the north will likely get 10-20mm of rain. Areas just south and west of Grande Prairie have the potential for 20-50mm.
Wind is expected to gust to around 60 km/h overnight and up to 80 km/h early tomorrow.
